The Importance of the Middle Ages
Many people wonder why it is important to study medieval, or Middle Ages, history today, and there are many important reasons as to why. The national lines of countries were altered, changed, and established over hundreds of years, and the events that occurred and shaped the world and its countries, during the Middle Ages, are crucial to understanding European countries today. Another reason to study the history of the Middle Ages is to understand the importance of the separation between church and state and to not repeat the same mistakes that happened in history. Shown through the history of the Roman Church, combining church and state was a bad idea, and there is a great importance in knowing the consequences. Finally, the last reason to study medieval history is to know where present day law and politics came from. Many of the laws and political ideas that the world knows today originated from the Middle Ages, thus making this time period very important to study. Therefore, the study of the Middle Ages is important because it is important to learn where many of the influential ideas in society today came from.
